Ideas whether big or small have recently been granted the opportunity of a lifetime, but think about this before reading further. The majority of the college students population will be in debt before they finish school and even before they attain their first solidified career position. According to the College Scholarships website most undergraduates will have amassed an average debt of about $26,000-$32,000 right out of school, and it only gets bigger as time goes on. There are those who have been fortunate to receive fundings that help individuals elude this nightmare as much as possible. However, not all can evade the sirens hym that this contract resonates. So many must attain some notion of aid in funding for a higher education. Accumulating a debt in which could either create or bar a complacent future from taking place.
Thanks to the new XLR8 program funded by the University of Hawai’i and community partners, your personal solution may lay on the path that this stepping stone begins. Recently founded in 2014 and backed by the vice president for Research and Innovation, a Mr. Vassilis Syrmos.
XLR8 entrupenural program, funded by the university of hawaii system and community partners
The program, provides an investment ranging up to $175,000 to support company start ups for not only students, but faculty, staff, and even alumnus of the University of Hawai’i. The goal of the program is to accelerate the entrepreneurial process through a rigid four month developmental phase.
Students here at UH hilo have already begun to jump on this opportunity one in particular, Chris, gave a few words on applying for the program. “Any opportunity for a future is a good opportunity, the worst they[application committee] can do is say no”. He goes on to state “Im glad I actually survived working on research papers throughout my english classes. The research and presentation skills helped me build the actual linguistic side of the business world. Hopefully my knowledge is enough to make it through.”
As we wish Chris luck, time still remains for you to apply with your idea now. For more information on the program or looking to apply visit the XLR8 web page at http://www.xlr8uh.com.
