As the semester reaches the halfway mark, brains have become clouded in a flurry of pandamonial thoughts from the various classes students take. In honor of those stressful tests and sneaky pop quizzes, THE FLOW event is here to put those hectic minds at ease.
However, the work that goes into creating this air of tranquility is anything but peaceful, “because it takes a lot of time and effort to put on” Destiny Rodriguez states. A senior in the field of Women's Studies, Rodriguez managed the business aspects of putting the event together.
“Putting on an event like this takes a lot more time than people think” stated Rodriguez. Along with managing a hectic academic schedule, Rodriguez stated that “the work for this event began last semester. It really took a lot of patience because climbing the amount of paperwork it took for this event could make a person afraid of heights.”
The particular Flow event which Rodriguez had specifically worked on was held on February 18. Rodriguez gave a quick rundown of the event night for those who are new or haven't attended the Flow event. “Its a free University Of Hawai’i at Hilo community event. There are free beverages, food, games, entertainment, and just a great way to get away from school,” said Rodriguez. The best part, Rodriguez stated was that all the games came with awesome prizes for the winners! “Chairing the event was great because I got to see such a good turnout,” Rodriguez stated. “On a side note the food that night was awesome too!,” added Rodriguez.

“For an event that took two months of paperwork to accomplish I think that this was a great learning experience for myself” Rodriguez said. “It was a struggle with my heavy course load, but this was a great way to learn about time management” Rodriguez commented. “Participating and being an active part in putting these kinds of events together really helps to teach me good organizational skills.”
